Georgine- This is thoroughly enlightening and curious. I'll admit, it's been a minute since I'm on baby mode, so the momsicle concept to me was both mind-blowing and curious. That would've come in handy, I think, when my kiddo decided to laze in drinking. The diaper notification might be much for my style, but I can see it being extremely helpful for especially busy parents. I love the way you brilliantly weave reality while challenging various status quos and societal perception. Both personal and thoughtfully done. Hope the summer's been kind to you? Cheers, -Thalia
That is definitely my experience—as they get older we enter a rich phase of life when our relationship transforms into something more like friendship. It’s wonderful. I struggled the year the last of my four daughters went to college and I became an empty nester. Now…time with daughters is plain ‘ol fun. I know everybody says this, but the growing up years go by fast! I see my daughters more often in the summer and fall. I live part of the year in California and part in Puerto Rico, but we’re all good travelers! I hope parenting is providing you just the right mix of joy/ challenge/learning/growing that makes life full.😊
Thank you for the comment. I always appreciate the feedback. My baby is 23, so mommy mode is in my rearview mirror as well. Progress is amazing and curious both. I am enjoying these summer months and hope you are too. Take care!
Oh wow! 23? That’s a great age of independence and full of possibilities. My friends who have kids in their 30s talk of the great friendship they develop with their kids. I’m definitely looking forward to it with mine. Are yours living nearby? That would be wonderful, Georgine!
Gosh, this was so interesting! I had no idea about all these newfangled baby gadgets! Wow. This idea of complexity in intergenerational relationships is a fascinating topic to explore -- especially the inevitability of dynamics changing and roles reversing as children become caretakers to aging parents. You also included one of my absolute favorite quotes: If you think you're enlightened, go spend a week with your family! Ha!
Hi Casey! Thank you for your comment. I remember reading Be Here Now by Ram Dass while I was spending a complicated weekend with family and thinking how brilliant that quote was...It's one of my favorites too.
