Georgine- This looks like an impactful experience. In San Miguel, no less. I do believe places greatly influence our output. Coffee pots make coffee, indeed!

What a beautiful summary of our time in San Miguel! I'm so grateful we got to experience the artistic energy in the air and get out of our own way. :) I also love what your teacher said.. "Coffee pots make coffee and humans make meaning." Hah! So true!

Now that I think about it, every transformative experience I've ever had was from a work of art. Most often a book. Sometimes a movie.

There have certainly been defining and transformative moments in my actual life, but I dont really reflect on them or regard them as such in the moment. If I experience a profoundly negative event, I usually believe the situation is rectifiable or reversible even if it isn't. If I experience a profoundly positive event, I usually disregard it as not that big of a deal, all things considered.

Because of that, I really enjoy rare moments of great consequence that produce strong emotions, good or bad. For instance, I much preferred feeling really depressed after a long term relationship ended, than experiencing the feelings of hollow emptiness that lingered for weeks and even months after.

I would never intentionally invoke strong, depressive emotions, but I do enjoy experiencing them. Every day I try to do everything in my power to produce strong, uplifting emotions. Most of those come from when I complete a really good newspaper article for my video game or when I think of a really good joke or article premise. Laughing and Achieveing are my two favorite states. Depression is the third. Mild-mannerness is far, far down at the very bottom of the list.

I'm really happy that you got to experience a conference that made you feel exaulted and inspired. I wish you didn't think such an experience is mystical or transcendental, but I'm glad all the same. Best of luck on your memoir and I hope you experience many more exciting break-through moments on your writing journey.

I really get what you're saying, Garrett. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Those moments of feeling alive stick with us--good and bad. Maybe the best life lessons are even the ones that come from times of difficulty in our life? (I've heard it said that nobody finds God after winning the lottery. Ha.). I think it takes self-awareness to appreciate the difficult emotions and I like that you included them alongside the good stuff. Glad to hear your work on the video game continues. Sounds like you have a wonderful project in the making. I look forward to hearing more about it!
